After nearly a decade at Microsoft, Priyanka Kulkarni, a former machine learning scientist, has embarked on a new entrepreneurial journey with the launch of Casium, an AI-powered startup aimed at transforming the employment-based immigration process. The platform promises to make one of the world’s most complex and paperwork-heavy systems faster, simpler, and more transparent.
Casium replaces the traditional visa processing workflow — often reliant on Excel sheets, manual documentation, and law firm coordination — with an intelligent, automated portal that allows employers to manage visa applications from start to finish. The platform streamlines the process, reducing the typical 3–6 month paperwork cycle to under 10 business days, significantly cutting both time and error rates.
Since its launch, Casium has assisted hundreds of applicants with compliance checks, assessments, and filings, while maintaining an exceptionally high approval rate. It currently offers free initial assessments and a flat-fee structure based on visa type, with plans to introduce a subscription-based model soon.
Born and raised in India, Kulkarni’s own experience navigating the U.S. immigration system played a pivotal role in shaping Casium’s mission. With a Bachelor’s in Computer Engineering from the University of Mumbai and a Master’s in Applied Mathematics from Johns Hopkins University, she brings both technical expertise and personal insight to the venture. Her years spent dealing with complex visa processes inspired her to build a solution that leverages AI to address inefficiency and uncertainty.
Her “aha” moment came at the AI2 Incubator in Seattle, where she pitched the concept for Casium — a platform that would bring “speed, transparency, and clarity” to a process that is often seen as frustrating and career-stalling. As she puts it, “Everything I’ve done has culminated to this point.”
Casium stands out not only for its technology but also for its purpose. By combining machine learning with real-world immigration expertise, the startup aims to modernize the visa process for employers and applicants alike — making global mobility smarter, faster, and fairer for skilled professionals worldwide.
