Indian Overseas Bank has appointed Akshit Choudhary as chief financial officer, effective November 1, 2026. He will succeed Madhaw Chandra Jha, who currently serves as CFO and deputy general manager.
The public-sector bank’s board approved the appointment at its October 27 meeting. Choudhary is currently a general manager at the bank and will move into responsibility for its finance function, financial reporting and related control processes.
Choudhary, 40, is a chartered accountant with more than 15 years of professional experience spanning banking, treasury, audit, assurance, financial services and business operations. His earlier employers include State Bank of India, Punjab & Sind Bank and PwC SDC.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce honours degree and has completed the Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers qualification. He also holds a Diploma in Treasury, Investment and Risk Management. His development credentials include participation in a board leadership programme conducted by Goldsmiths, University of London, in collaboration with the Management Development Institute.
The appointment places an executive with experience across branch operations, regional business management and head-office finance in the CFO position. It also provides a defined succession date, with the transition scheduled for the start of November rather than taking effect immediately after the board decision. The bank disclosed the appointment through an exchange filing following the board meeting.
