Larsen & Toubro plans to commission its Chennai AI computing facility in January 2027, with more than 10,000 Nvidia B300 GPUs. Chief Financial Officer P. Ramakrishnan disclosed the timeline during the group’s second-quarter and first-half FY27 earnings call.
The facility is being developed through wholly owned subsidiary L&T N-Compute. It will operate from the group’s Chennai campus and is intended to provide high-performance computing for AI training and production workloads.
L&T N-Compute has signed a long-term deployment agreement with Together.ai covering a significant portion of the planned GPU capacity. The contracted capacity provides an initial commercial use case for the infrastructure as it moves toward commissioning.
Management indicated that the project involves approximately $750 million of FY27 investment within an existing 30MW facility at Sriperumbudur. L&T is also considering a further 50MW addition near the site and has outlined an ambition to create more than 100MW of AI-factory capacity over the following 18 to 24 months. Funding and final expenditure for the subsequent phases will depend partly on future chip prices and debt requirements.
The update also covered L&T Semiconductor Technologies. The subsidiary has unveiled 40 products and platforms spanning computing, power electronics, connectivity and analogue technologies. Its portfolio includes a 1,200-volt silicon-carbide MOSFET platform, while partnerships have been established with Azure Moto Technologies and Tata Electronics.
