Karta AI Raises $3 Million to Automate Complex BFSI Service Calls

Bengaluru-based Karta AI has raised $3 million, approximately ₹28 crore, in a seed round led by PeerCapital and Cedar Hill Capital. Wyser VC, CDM Capital and Seedstars also participated in the financing.

Founded in 2024 by former Razorpay executives Vijaypal Singh and Abhishek Kushwaha, Karta AI develops agentic systems for customer interactions across voice, chat, email and WhatsApp. Its principal focus is inbound voice calls involving financial-service workflows that cannot be resolved through a standard frequently asked question or a single application programming interface.

The company says its platform handles approximately two million customer conversations each month and supports more than 25 spoken languages. It has between 10 and 12 paying clients, including PhonePe, Pine Labs, Bajaj and Aavas.

Karta AI is targeting Level 2 and Level 3 servicing requests, which may involve several customer intentions and require data to be retrieved or actions to be executed across multiple enterprise systems. Examples include a borrower simultaneously seeking a loan-disbursement update, a statement of account and a foreclosure document.

The company says one deployment at a housing-finance provider resolves roughly 70% of borrower requests without human intervention and has reduced the cost per query by approximately 50%. Across its inbound proof-of-concept projects, it claims to have achieved end-to-end automation rates of between 70% and 80%.

High-risk matters, including suspected fraud, are referred to human personnel. Customers may also request a human agent, while workflows without a clearly defined standard operating procedure are not automatically completed.

Karta AI’s context engine draws on enterprise procedures, knowledge bases, historical conversations and API data. The platform uses models supplied by OpenAI and Google alongside open-source models, with guardrails and pre-deployment testing designed for regulated financial-service environments.

The funding will support product development, distribution and go-to-market expansion over the next two years. The company also plans to develop self-learning capabilities and reusable BFSI-specific workflows before pursuing broader international expansion.
