
Marriott International has appointed Shivanku (Shiv) Misra as Managing Vice President of Data, AI and Emerging Technologies, strengthening the hospitality giant’s technology leadership as it accelerates investments in artificial intelligence, data infrastructure, and next-generation digital capabilities across its global operations.
In his new role, Misra will lead engineering initiatives spanning data platforms, artificial intelligence systems, and emerging technologies for Marriott International, helping build the technology foundation supporting one of the world’s largest hospitality networks. His responsibilities are expected to include advancing enterprise AI capabilities, intelligent automation, data-driven operations, digital innovation, and scalable technology platforms across Marriott’s global hospitality ecosystem.
The appointment comes at a time when hospitality companies worldwide are increasingly investing in AI-powered guest experiences, predictive analytics, intelligent operations, personalization systems, digital engagement platforms, and enterprise-wide automation to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Misra joins Marriott International from McKesson, where he most recently served as Global Head of AI and Automation. In that role, he led enterprise-wide AI initiatives focused on large-scale automation, AI transformation, operational intelligence, and technology modernization.
Beyond his corporate leadership experience, Misra is also actively involved in the broader AI and data leadership ecosystem. He currently serves on the boards of the American Society for AI, CDO Magazine, and the University of Maryland – Robert H. Smith School of Business, reflecting his growing influence across enterprise AI, data strategy, and technology innovation communities.
Industry observers note that global hospitality companies are increasingly strengthening leadership around AI, data science, and emerging technologies as digital transformation becomes central to modern hospitality operations.
