Meta Platforms is raising $15 billion through a five-part US dollar bond offering as the company looks to finance its growing investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The Facebook parent’s latest fundraising effort comes as technology companies increase spending on AI data centres, computing capacity and cloud infrastructure. The bond sale reflects Meta’s decision to access debt markets to support its infrastructure expansion, despite traditionally relying on its cash reserves to fund growth.
According to a regulatory filing, the offering includes $3.25 billion in notes due in 2031, carrying a coupon of 5.85%, and another $3.25 billion in notes due in 2033, carrying a coupon of 6.25%.
The five-part offering forms part of Meta’s broader efforts to secure capital for its AI-related investments. The company’s fundraising plans also follow its expanded proposal for what could become a $97.5 billion equity raise.
The move comes amid a wider funding push across the technology sector, with companies seeking additional capital to build the infrastructure required for AI services. Demand for computing power and data-centre capacity has prompted major technology firms to commit significant resources to infrastructure development.
Meta’s bond offering highlights how the company is using different financing channels to support its expanding AI ambitions. The company is tapping debt investors as it prepares for continued investment in the technology and infrastructure needed to support its AI operations.
