Microsoft has appointed Rodrigo Kede Lima as President of Microsoft Frontier Company, the company’s newly launched AI-focused business unit created to accelerate enterprise-scale AI adoption and operational transformation globally.
The appointment marks a significant leadership move as Microsoft expands investments in enterprise AI deployment, AI-native business operations, intelligent workflow transformation, and industry-specific AI implementation services. Backed by a reported $2.5 billion investment, Microsoft Frontier Company has been established to help organizations move beyond AI experimentation toward production-scale deployment of AI systems integrated into core business processes and operational environments.
In his new role, Kede will lead Microsoft’s efforts to combine applied AI engineering, enterprise consulting, transformation capabilities, industry expertise, and operational modernization frameworks to help enterprises deploy AI systems tied directly to measurable business outcomes.
Announcing his transition, Kede stated that artificial intelligence is expected to fundamentally reshape productivity, workflows, and enterprise operations across industries globally. He noted that Microsoft Frontier Company would focus on helping organizations integrate AI deeply into day-to-day business processes while protecting what he described as the customer’s “intelligence layer,” including operational knowledge, enterprise data, and business IP.
Kede brings extensive global leadership experience across enterprise technology, cloud computing, AI transformation, commercial operations, and regional business management accumulated during more than six years at Microsoft. Prior to this appointment, he served as President of Microsoft Asia, where he led the company’s business operations across some of the world’s fastest-growing and most complex markets. During his tenure, he focused on accelerating enterprise AI adoption, expanding commercial growth, and strengthening Microsoft’s positioning as a strategic technology partner for enterprises, governments, and digital-native businesses across the region.
Earlier in his career at Microsoft, Kede also held leadership roles including President for Americas Enterprise, President for Latin America, and Corporate Vice President. His experience spans AI-driven enterprise transformation, cloud strategy, digital modernization, operational scaling, and regional market expansion across multiple global markets.
Industry observers note that the creation of Microsoft Frontier Company reflects a broader shift among major technology companies toward building dedicated AI transformation organizations capable of embedding AI engineering and operational expertise directly within enterprise customer environments. The initiative also highlights intensifying global competition around enterprise AI infrastructure, generative AI deployment, intelligent automation, and AI-native operating models.
Microsoft stated that Frontier Company will operate through a multi-model AI strategy supported by deep engineering, applied AI capabilities, consulting expertise, and industry-specific transformation services. The company has also emphasized that customer data and intellectual property used during deployments will remain protected and will not be used to train foundational AI models.
Microsoft Corporation is one of the world’s largest technology companies, providing cloud computing, enterprise software, artificial intelligence infrastructure, cybersecurity, and digital productivity solutions globally.
