In a historic move, the Government of India has appointed Parminder Chopra as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC), effective from August 14, 2023. This decision marks a significant milestone as Parminder Chopra becomes the first woman to lead India’s largest Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC).
Previously, Parminder Chopra had been holding the additional charge of CMD since June 1, 2023. Her journey with PFC began in 2020 when she assumed the role of Director (Finance). With over 35 years of diverse experience in the power and financial sectors, her appointment is seen as a testament to her exceptional leadership and expertise.
Parminder Chopra’s notable accomplishments include her instrumental role in the successful implementation of the INR 1.12 trillion Liquidity Infusion Scheme (LIS) for the power distribution sector, a pivotal part of the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative by the Government of India.
Throughout her career, Parminder Chopra has held key positions in major players of the power sector, such as NHPC Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited. Under her leadership, Power Finance Corporation Limited is expected to witness new milestones and achieve greater heights in its endeavors.
