Digital payments company PayU has announced the appointment of Pramod Rao as its Chief Risk Officer. In this role, he will oversee risk management, regulatory compliance, and the enhancement of the organization’s financial and operational risk framework, according to a statement released by the company on Wednesday.
With nearly three decades of experience in banking and the telecom sector, Rao previously served as the fraud management head at Axis Bank. Over the course of his career, he has also held leadership roles at Vodafone Idea, Citibank, IDBI Bank, ICICI Bank, and HSBC.
“His extensive experience in financial security, regulatory compliance, and fraud prevention will be key to enhancing our risk framework and ensuring seamless, secure transactions for our customers,” said Anirban Mukherjee, CEO, PayU.
Rao’s appointment comes amid a phase of leadership transitions at PayU, following the recent resignations of Vijay Agicha, Chief Investment Officer, and Suresh Rajagopalan, CEO of PayU’s group entity Wibmo.
Alongside Rao, PayU has brought in several other senior executives, including Pranav Pandya as Chief Compliance Officer, Dimple Mehta as Company Secretary, and Rahul Bharadwaj as Head of Operations. Additionally, Ashok Patil has been appointed as Chief Risk Officer for PayU’s credit business.
