India— PhonePe has elevated Achal Ananth to the role of Vice President & Head of Data, reinforcing the company’s focus on data-driven decision-making, analytics, and AI-enabled business growth across its expanding fintech ecosystem.
Ananth shared the announcement through a professional update confirming his transition into the new leadership role. He has been associated with PhonePe for more than nine years and has played a significant role in building and scaling the company’s analytics and business intelligence capabilities.
Prior to his appointment as Vice President & Head of Data, Ananth served in multiple leadership positions within PhonePe, including AVP & Head of Data – Analytics, BI, Data Science & Data Platform, and Director – Head of Analytics & BI. Over the years, he has led initiatives spanning analytics, business intelligence, data science, and large-scale data platform development.
His expanded responsibilities are expected to support PhonePe’s growing focus on leveraging data infrastructure and AI-driven insights to enhance operational efficiency, improve customer engagement, strengthen fraud prevention systems, and support strategic business growth.
Before joining PhonePe, Ananth worked at Flipkart, where he held roles including Manager – Pricing Analytics and Lead Business Analyst. His work at Flipkart involved analytics-driven business optimization and pricing strategy development within India’s rapidly evolving e-commerce sector.
Earlier in his career, he held positions at Affine Analytics, Tata Consultancy Services, and Mu Sigma, gaining experience across analytics consulting, business intelligence, and enterprise data management.
The appointment comes at a time when fintech companies are investing heavily in AI, analytics, and data engineering to improve personalization, automate financial operations, and strengthen digital payment ecosystems.
