Sumit Priyani has joined Hitachi as Chief Information Officer for Hitachi Digital and the combined Hitachi Digital Services and GlobalLogic organisation. Announcing the move on LinkedIn, Priyani outlined an agenda centred on enterprise technology modernisation, data and artificial intelligence, and intelligent automation.
In his new role, Priyani will work with Anand Birje and the broader executive leadership team to modernise and harmonise the organisation’s technology ecosystem. His priorities include strengthening enterprise data and AI capabilities and building digital foundations that support innovation, business growth, and better experiences for employees, clients and partners.
GlobalLogic’s official leadership profile also identifies technology strategy and operations, cybersecurity, integration and collaboration as key areas of his remit.
Priyani joins Hitachi from EXL Service, where he served as Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer. During his tenure, he led the architecture and engineering of the company’s EXLerate.ai platform and worked on modernising its business and enterprise technology environment. He also developed technology integration frameworks for more than a dozen acquired businesses and oversaw technology operations and IT service delivery supporting over 63,000 employees globally.
Earlier in his career, Priyani held senior technology leadership positions at iGATE Patni, now part of Capgemini, Genpact and NIIT Technologies. His experience spans enterprise applications, cloud infrastructure, data and analytics, AI, automation, cybersecurity and risk management, alongside building and leading global technology teams.
In his LinkedIn announcement, Priyani described the move as an opportunity to extend his work in technology transformation and complex ecosystem integration on a global scale. He highlighted Hitachi Digital’s vision of bringing together digital engineering, data, AI and industry expertise to help organisations accelerate innovation.
His appointment comes as Hitachi Digital Services and GlobalLogic advance their integration. The companies previously announced that Anand Birje would lead the combined organisation from September 1, 2026, aligning strategy, investment and execution across their digital engineering and services capabilities.
Looking ahead, Priyani emphasised collaboration with colleagues worldwide, with a focus on applying technology to create client value and support innovation across the enterprise.
