Bengaluru, Global commerce and payments technology company WEX has opened a new technology center in Bengaluru, expanding its engineering and innovation presence in India.
The facility will operate as a strategic technology hub for WEX, bringing together teams working across software engineering, product development, cloud architecture, data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and enterprise technology.
The Bengaluru teams will support the development and scaling of technology platforms across WEX’s three principal business areas—Mobility, Corporate Payments, and Health & Benefits. They will also operate as an extension of the company’s global engineering organisation, contributing to customer-facing products and enterprise technology systems.
The new center expands WEX’s existing presence in India, where the company already operates facilities in Chennai and Madurai. The addition of Bengaluru gives the company access to a larger pool of software engineers, data specialists, cloud professionals and cybersecurity talent.
“India has become an integral part of WEX’s global technology organisation,” said Keshav Kowshik, Head of Operations at WEX India.
Kowshik said Bengaluru was central to the company’s long-term growth strategy due to the city’s engineering talent, technology ecosystem and established culture of product development. WEX said it will focus on building specialised technical capabilities and developing local leadership through the new center.
The company has not disclosed the size of the Bengaluru facility, the number of employees currently working at the location or a fresh hiring target connected specifically with the opening. Therefore, no employment figures should be added unless confirmed separately by WEX.
WEX provides technology platforms that help businesses manage commercial fleets and mobility expenses, employee-benefit programmes and corporate payments. The company describes itself as a global commerce platform serving businesses across multiple international markets.
WEX’s official India locations currently include offices in Chennai and Madurai, while its careers platform has also listed engineering and recruitment positions based in Bengaluru.
