Wastelink Secures ₹27 Crore Series A Funding from Avaana Capital to Scale Food Upcycling Model

Wastelink, a food upcycling startup under Forplanet Ingredients, has raised ₹27 crore ($3 million) in a Series A round led by Avaana Capital, aimed at accelerating nationwide expansion, advancing R&D, and upgrading its AI-driven supply chain systems.

Founded in 2018, Wastelink is tackling a critical gap in India’s animal feed sector, which remains heavily reliant on maize and soy—commodities that are prone to climate risks, market price swings, and inconsistent nutritional value. The company’s solution lies in converting surplus food into ECOMIX, a standardized and traceable feed ingredient engineered to provide reliable nutrition and shield feed manufacturers and farmers from commodity volatility.

Over the past six years, the startup has upcycled more than 35,000 tons of surplus food into high-quality feed, currently supporting over 38,500 animals annually. According to the company, farmers using ECOMIX have witnessed milk yield improvements of up to 15%, demonstrating both its economic and nutritional impact.

“Animal feed is the backbone of our food system, yet it suffers from chronic volatility in quality and price,” said Saket, Founder and CEO of Wastelink. “This fundraise powers our nationwide expansion and strengthens our R&D and technology to build a category-defining company that ensures resilience for feed manufacturers, farmers, and the broader food chain.”

Echoing this vision, Krishnan, Co-Founder of Wastelink, noted: “Our approach combines science, technology, and circularity to create a reliable feed input the industry can trust. Redirecting food surplus is the mechanism—but the outcome is resilience in animal nutrition that benefits farmers, businesses, and the planet.”

Investor Avaana Capital believes Wastelink is pioneering a new approach to agricultural supply chains. Swapna Gupta, Partner at Avaana Capital, said: “Wastelink is reimagining animal feed by solving two critical challenges—nutrient inconsistency and price volatility. By redirecting food surplus into standardized, traceable inputs, their platform solves for supply chain resilience. This is the kind of breakthrough innovation India can pioneer to build future-ready food systems for the world.”

By marrying technology with sustainability, Wastelink is positioning itself at the intersection of climate resilience, food security, and circular economy—an area increasingly vital as India looks to stabilize its agricultural systems and set benchmarks for global markets.
