Cargill India has announced the appointment of Ravinder Balain as its new President, a move that underscores the company’s commitment to strengthening its presence and driving innovation in India’s food and agriculture ecosystem. Balain will take on this new responsibility while continuing in his current role as Managing Director, South Asia – Animal Nutrition and Health. Based in Bengaluru, he brings with him over three decades of experience in agribusiness, crop protection, and nutrition, with an impressive track record across global markets including India, ASEAN, South Asia, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Ravinder’s professional journey is marked by leadership positions at some of the most prominent companies in the sector. At Corteva Agriscience, he served as President, South Asia, where he played a critical role in driving business growth and transformation. His tenure at FMC Corporation saw him lead business strategy and commercial integration following the company’s acquisition of DuPont’s crop protection business. Prior to that, Ravinder spent more than 20 years with DuPont, where he led multiple product launches, market expansions, and large-scale business transformation initiatives that helped shape the company’s footprint across key markets.
In his new capacity as President of Cargill India, Ravinder will focus on accelerating growth, building sustainable supply chains, and driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of customers and stakeholders. His leadership comes at a time when the food and agriculture industry is rapidly embracing technology, sustainability, and new business models to address the challenges of a growing population and climate change.
“Ravinder’s deep understanding of the global agribusiness landscape and proven leadership in driving transformation make him ideally suited to lead Cargill India into its next phase of growth,” the company said in a statement. His appointment reflects Cargill’s long-term vision to strengthen its role in India as a trusted partner for farmers, businesses, and consumers while advancing its sustainability and innovation agenda.
