Zoho Expands into Payments with Launch of In-House POS Devices under Zoho Payments

Zoho Corporation has officially entered the payments and consumer technology space with the launch of its proprietary Point-of-Sale (POS) devices under the Zoho Payments division. This marks a significant step for the Chennai-headquartered SaaS giant, which has traditionally focused on enterprise software, as it now broadens its footprint into the rapidly evolving Indian digital payments ecosystem.

The newly introduced POS devices will enable businesses to accept in-person payments, generate bills, print receipts, and automatically sync transaction data across their Zoho systems. This seamless integration will allow merchants to unify sales, accounting, and customer management processes within the Zoho ecosystem, making it easier for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to digitize their financial operations.

Announcing the development, Sridhar Vembu, Founder and CEO of Zoho Corp, shared on X that the company has partnered with NPCI’s Bharat BillPay Ltd (NBBL) to strengthen India’s digital payment infrastructure and address persistent operational challenges faced by merchants. “Zoho has partnered with NPCI’s Bharat BillPay Ltd (NBBL) to strengthen India’s digital payments ecosystem and address operational challenges for merchants,” he said.

The collaboration aims to enhance the reliability and efficiency of digital transactions, particularly for businesses in Tier-2 and Tier-3 regions, where adoption of such integrated payment technologies is rapidly increasing. Zoho’s move underscores its ambition to build homegrown technology solutions that empower local businesses and reduce dependency on foreign fintech infrastructure.

In addition, Vembu revealed that Zoho’s messaging app, Arattai, will soon integrate with Zoho Pay, creating a unified communication and payments experience within the company’s ecosystem. He confirmed that Zoho’s messaging platform, Arattai, will soon integrate with Zoho Pay, further aligning the company’s push toward homegrown, interconnected digital services.

With this launch, Zoho is positioning itself as a comprehensive business technology provider, bridging enterprise software with financial technology. The POS initiative complements Zoho’s broader vision of enabling Indian businesses to digitally transform their end-to-end operations—from productivity and collaboration tools to payments and customer engagement—using an entirely indigenous tech stack.

This expansion not only highlights Zoho’s growing role in India’s fintech landscape but also reinforces its long-term commitment to developing Made-in-India digital infrastructure for the global market.
