Cybersecurity startup Bold has announced $40 million in new funding as it emerges from stealth mode, aiming to rearchitect how organisations secure their digital infrastructure in an era of rapidly evolving cyber threats.
The funding round was backed by leading investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, Picture Capital and Red Dot Capital Partners. The capital will support Bold’s efforts to expand its artificial intelligence-powered endpoint security platform and accelerate product development.
Bold’s technology focuses on protecting endpoint devices such as laptops, servers and cloud workloads. Unlike traditional security architectures that rely on centralised monitoring systems in the cloud to detect threats after data is transmitted, Bold’s approach enables devices to act as independent AI security agents.
The company’s platform deploys advanced AI models directly on endpoint devices. These models continuously monitor device behaviour, analyse access patterns and identify suspicious activity in real time. By allowing endpoints to detect and respond to threats locally, the system can block potential cyberattacks before they spread across a network.
This decentralised, edge-based security architecture is designed to provide faster incident response while reducing reliance on costly cloud infrastructure. It also helps keep sensitive data closer to the device, improving privacy and lowering exposure to potential breaches.
Bold believes this model represents the future of enterprise cybersecurity. By enabling devices to autonomously detect threats and take action, organisations can identify attacks earlier and prevent large-scale security incidents.
The platform is particularly suited for organisations with distributed workforces, remote employees and thousands of connected devices—environments where traditional perimeter-based security models often struggle to provide adequate protection.
As companies continue to adopt cloud services, remote collaboration tools and connected devices, the potential attack surface for cybercriminals continues to expand. Bold’s device-level protection strategy is designed to close these security gaps and provide continuous, AI-driven protection across modern enterprise environments.
