Andhra Pradesh has become the first state in India to roll out free statewide access to Canva for Education across all government schools, extending the platform to students, teachers, and education officials as part of a major digital education initiative.
The agreement was signed on June 18 between the Andhra Pradesh Education Department, Samagra Shiksha, and Canva. The initiative is aimed at strengthening digital learning capabilities and improving creative learning experiences across the state’s public education system.
Under the partnership, students across government schools will gain access to Canva’s education platform to create digital presentations, classroom projects, infographics, visual learning materials, and short-form videos. The initiative is expected to support digital literacy, creativity, communication skills, and technology-enabled learning within classrooms.
Teachers will also receive phased training programs designed to help them integrate digital design tools into classroom instruction and learning activities. The training initiative is intended to improve digital teaching capabilities and support the broader adoption of technology-driven education practices across schools in the state.
Speaking about the initiative, Andhra Pradesh Minister Nara Lokesh said, “Through this partnership, Andhra Pradesh is empowering every government school student with access to world-class digital tools that were once available only to a privileged few.”
The development reflects the increasing focus on digital education infrastructure and technology adoption within India’s school education ecosystem. State governments across the country have been expanding investments in digital classrooms, online learning platforms, AI-enabled education tools, and skill development initiatives to improve accessibility and learning outcomes.
The partnership also highlights Andhra Pradesh’s broader push toward digital transformation in education by integrating technology platforms into classroom learning and administrative systems. Officials believe initiatives focused on digital access and creative learning tools can help bridge educational gaps while preparing students for a technology-driven future.
