
Bengaluru, OpenAI has expanded its startup-focused team in India with the appointment of Sarthak Arora as a Founding Member. Based in Bengaluru, Arora will contribute to the company’s engagement with startups and developers as it strengthens its Applied AI for Startups operations across the Asia-Pacific region.
Announcing his appointment, Arora said, “I’m looking forward to partnering with India’s best builders to define the future of our country and the world.”
He thanked Wulfie Bain, Sun Weiran and Kenneth Ang for the opportunity, adding, “here’s to just doing things.”
In his new role, Arora is expected to work with Indian startup founders and technology teams building products and services using artificial intelligence. His appointment comes as OpenAI expands its regional presence and builds relationships with startups seeking to develop and deploy generative and applied AI solutions.
Before joining OpenAI, Arora worked as a software engineer at Meta. His professional experience covers software engineering and the development of technology products. He is also a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley.
The appointment adds local representation to OpenAI’s startup team and provides the company with a Bengaluru-based member focused on India’s growing community of AI founders and developers. Bengaluru is home to a large concentration of Indian technology startups, venture capital firms and global capability centres.
OpenAI develops artificial intelligence models and products, including ChatGPT and its application programming interfaces. The company works with developers, enterprises and startups to integrate its models into software products, business processes and consumer applications.
