Mumbai: Cryptocurrency exchange CoinDCX has strengthened its collaboration with Indian law enforcement agencies by conducting a specialized training programme on cryptocurrency investigations and Virtual Digital Assets (VDAs) for officers from the Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate. The initiative is aimed at enhancing the investigative capabilities of police personnel as digital assets become increasingly intertwined with cybercrime and financial fraud investigations.
The training programme focused on equipping officers with practical knowledge of blockchain technology, crypto-enabled financial crimes, and investigative approaches required to trace transactions involving virtual digital assets. Participants were introduced to blockchain-based transaction flows, emerging cyber fraud patterns, and mechanisms that can support faster and more effective investigations in cases involving digital assets. The sessions also explored collaborative frameworks that facilitate information sharing between cryptocurrency exchanges and law enforcement agencies during investigations.
Commenting on the initiative, Sumit Gupta, Co-founder of CoinDCX, said, “Law Enforcement Agencies are at the forefront of protecting citizens and combating emerging threats in the digital financial ecosystem. It was a privilege to engage with the dedicated team at the Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar Police Commissionerate. As the ecosystem evolves, continuous collaboration and knowledge exchange between industry and enforcement agencies becomes increasingly vital.”
The programme forms part of CoinDCX’s broader efforts to support India’s cybercrime prevention ecosystem through capacity-building initiatives. Earlier this year, the company announced its Digital Suraksha Network (DSN), a ₹100-crore initiative intended to strengthen cyber safety by investing in consumer awareness, blockchain forensics training, and collaborative infrastructure for tackling digital financial fraud.
With the rapid adoption of digital assets and blockchain technologies, cybercrime investigations are becoming increasingly complex. Fraudsters are leveraging cryptocurrencies in phishing scams, investment fraud, ransomware attacks, and money laundering schemes, making it essential for investigators to understand blockchain transaction mechanisms and digital evidence collection. Industry stakeholders have therefore been working more closely with enforcement agencies to improve technical expertise and streamline investigative processes.
CoinDCX said its engagement with the Mira-Bhayander, Vasai-Virar Police is part of an ongoing nationwide collaboration with law enforcement agencies to bridge knowledge gaps around the evolving VDA ecosystem. Through such initiatives, the company aims to contribute to a more secure digital finance landscape by helping investigators stay ahead of emerging cyber-financial threats while promoting responsible adoption of blockchain technologies.
