Bengaluru, Indian spacetech startup GalaxEye has acquired Bengaluru-based spacecraft engineering company StarOps, strengthening its in-house satellite development and end-to-end space engineering capabilities.
The acquisition will bring StarOps’ engineering team, proprietary spacecraft technologies and qualified satellite bus platforms into GalaxEye. The move is expected to expand GalaxEye’s capabilities across the satellite value chain, including mission design, spacecraft engineering, development, testing and operations.
Founded in 2022, StarOps focuses on developing satellite platforms and indigenising critical spacecraft technologies. Its portfolio includes qualified satellite bus platforms in the 50 kg, 150 kg and 250 kg classes, along with proprietary subsystems, testing infrastructure, engineering tools and qualification capabilities. StarOps has achieved more than 66% indigenisation across its satellite systems.
The acquisition comes as GalaxEye strengthens its satellite engineering capabilities following challenges with its first Drishti satellite. The company is developing Earth observation systems based on its proprietary OptoSAR technology, which combines Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and optical imaging to enable all-weather and day-and-night Earth observation.
GalaxEye said the addition of StarOps will accelerate product development, deepen vertical integration and strengthen its ability to design, engineer and operate end-to-end satellite missions from India.
GalaxEye is an IIT Madras-incubated spacetech company focused on multi-sensor Earth observation and satellite-based intelligence solutions for sectors including defence, infrastructure, agriculture and geospatial applications.
