
Apothecon Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. has appointed Jigr Jayesh Shah as its Group Chief Financial Officer. Based in Vadodara, Gujarat, Shah brings more than 20 years of experience in finance, with a career spanning financial planning, business finance, corporate governance, treasury, taxation, working capital management, international operations, transformation and financial controls.
Before joining Apothecon Pharmaceuticals, Shah served as Head of Finance at Alembic Pharmaceuticals Limited. In that role, he was responsible for finance across APIs, formulations, R&D, international business, and strategic and transformation initiatives.
Prior to Alembic Pharmaceuticals, Shah was Cluster Finance Head – AAA (ASEAN, Africa, Middle East & Australia New Zealand) at Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories. He was based in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where his responsibilities covered finance across the company’s cluster.
Shah also spent more than a decade with Mega LifeSciences in Vietnam. During his tenure, he served in several finance roles, including nearly five years as Regional Financial Director. His responsibilities included financial planning and reporting across Vietnam, Malaysia and the Philippines, along with working capital management, foreign exchange exposure, funding, taxation, corporate governance, audits and compliance.
His experience at Mega LifeSciences also included supporting subsidiary setup, acquisition integration, ERP and CRM transformation, IFRS implementation and finance process optimisation.
Earlier in his career, Shah spent more than four years with ITC Limited as Assistant Finance Controller. His responsibilities there included management information systems, forecasting, budgeting, statutory audits, receivables, IFRS implementation and risk analysis.
Shah began his professional career in audit. He worked with Deloitte India as an Audit Assistant before joining Ernst & Young as an Industrial Trainee.
With his new role at Apothecon Pharmaceuticals, Shah brings experience across pharmaceutical finance, international operations, governance, compliance, treasury, taxation and business transformation. His career has included finance responsibilities across India and international markets, particularly in Asia.
Apothecon Pharmaceuticals is a research-based pharmaceutical company founded in 2007 and headquartered in Vadodara, India. The company manufactures niche active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) and formulations and supplies its products to markets globally.
According to the company, its operations are approved by the US FDA, UK MHRA, WHO GMP and State FDCA and have been audited by regulatory agencies including ANVISA Brazil and authorities in other markets. Apothecon says its products are manufactured under stringent quality controls.
In a recent company announcement, Apothecon welcomed Shah to its leadership team and highlighted his more than two decades of experience across pharmaceuticals, FMCG and professional services. The company also said his areas of expertise include finance, governance, compliance, taxation and strategic planning.
Shah holds a Master’s degree in Accounting & Finance from M.S. University and is a qualified Chartered Accountant, Cost & Management Accountant and Company Secretary.
His appointment adds an experienced finance leader to Apothecon Pharmaceuticals’ senior leadership team. With experience across pharmaceutical businesses, international operations and financial transformation, Shah will take on the group-level finance mandate at the company.
