Enterprise AI startup Ema has raised $77 million in a Series B funding round led by Creaegis, with existing investors Accel, S32 and Prosus also participating and increasing their investments. The latest round takes Ema’s total funding raised to $140 million and more than quadruples its valuation from the previous funding round.
Founded in 2023 by former Coinbase executive Surojit Chatterjee and Souvik Sen, Ema develops AI employees for enterprise functions including human resources, information technology and finance. Its platform uses AI agents to plan and execute workflows across the applications and systems already used by enterprises.
The company said its AI employees are already being deployed by large organisations to handle business workflows at scale. Ema said its platform supports functions such as employee assistance, IT service management and finance-related operations, with human oversight for decisions that require approval.
One of its deployments supports more than 240,000 employees across 65 countries, according to the company. The deployment automates more than 100 workflows and handles approximately 2.9 million employee queries annually. Ema said the system has reduced response times from days to seconds and increased employee satisfaction by 20%.
Ema has also reported strong growth in its business. The company said its revenue has increased 50-fold over the past 24 months. It said its customers typically expand their usage after an initial deployment, with the platform being extended to additional business functions.
The latest funding will be used to expand Ema’s go-to-market operations and continue investment in its enterprise AI platform. The company also plans to expand into additional geographies, including APAC and EMEA.
Creaegis Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer Prakash Parthasarathy said Ema’s platform has demonstrated the ability to support AI deployments at enterprise scale while providing governance for large organisations.
Before the latest round, Ema had raised $25 million in March 2024 in a funding round led by Accel, S32 and Prosus Ventures, with participation from Wipro Ventures, Venture Highway, AME Cloud Ventures, Frontier Ventures, Maum Group and Firebolt Ventures. With the Series B, the company has now raised $140 million in total.
Ema said its platform integrates with more than 250 business applications and systems of record, allowing enterprises to deploy AI employees across HR, IT and finance through a common platform. The company counts organisations including Wipro, Hitachi, ADP and PwC among its customers.
The funding comes as enterprises increasingly explore AI agents that can execute business processes rather than simply assist employees with individual tasks. Ema’s latest round will support its efforts to expand the deployment of these AI employees across larger organisations and additional business functions.
