Artificial intelligence company Anthropic is expected to include an Australian retail share offering in the prospectus for its planned initial public offering in the United States, according to Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s broking unit, CommSec.
In a statement reported by Reuters on November 3, 2026, CommSec said it would act as the lead Australian retail broker for the proposed offer if the IPO proceeds. The share offering is expected to be included in a prospectus to be filed with Australia’s corporate regulator.
Anthropic, the company behind the Claude AI assistant, is not planning to list its shares on the Australian Securities Exchange, CommSec said. Instead, the company is expected to trade on the Nasdaq under the ticker symbol ANT after the IPO is completed.
The proposed Australian offer would allow eligible retail investors in the country to participate in the listing through the designated brokerage arrangement. The final terms and availability of shares will depend on the IPO prospectus and the completion of the offering process.
Anthropic’s planned listing comes as investors assess the financial requirements of building and operating advanced AI systems. The company is among the major developers of generative AI models and has attracted significant investor interest as demand for AI tools expands across businesses.
The IPO is expected to take place before Thanksgiving, according to the Reuters report. However, the final timing and offering details remain subject to the company’s filing and listing process.
Valuation is also expected to be a major consideration for investors. Some current and prospective investors have been weighing a valuation of approximately $1.5 trillion, down from around $2 trillion, after the company disclosed financial details at a recent investor event, Reuters has reported.
Anthropic’s filing has also drawn attention to the scale of spending commitments required to support AI infrastructure. The company expects to incur nearly half of the $895.4 billion in spending commitments related to AI infrastructure build-outs before December 31, 2030.
The proposed Australian retail offer adds another international market to Anthropic’s planned US listing as the company prepares to enter public markets.
