AI Security Startup Artemis Secures $70M for Autonomous Defense Systems

Artemis has secured $70 million in combined seed and Series A funding to accelerate the development of its AI-driven cybersecurity platform, designed to counter increasingly sophisticated, machine-speed cyberattacks.

The round includes participation from investors such as 1st Round Capital, Brightmind, and others, with Felicis leading the investment. Strategic backing also came from industry stakeholders associated with Demisto, Abnormal AI, and professionals with experience at Splunk, CrowdStrike, Microsoft, and Palo Alto Networks.

Founded in 2025, Artemis has completed a $15 million seed round led by First Round Capital and Brightmind, followed by a $55 million Series A round. The company currently has a team of 30 employees.

The platform is focused on advancing autonomous AI agents that can replace traditional rule-based defense systems. These agents are designed to detect and respond to cyber threats across cloud environments, identity systems, networks, endpoints, and applications, offering a more unified understanding of attacks as they unfold.

“Legacy detection was built for a world where humans attacked humans,” said Shachar Hirshberg, co-founder and CEO of Artemis and former lead of AWS’s GuardDuty. “Today, AI-driven attacks never execute the same way twice. They adapt in real-time, often finishing their mission before a human defender even receives an alert. We built Artemis to give defenders that same speed and adaptability.”

By addressing the fragmentation of traditional security architectures, the company aims to deliver a cohesive, real-time view of attacker behavior, enabling faster and more effective response mechanisms.

“We already have the basic product deployed in some of the largest environments in the world, as well as some of the most sophisticated environments in the world, and customers have already started getting to us inbound,” Hirshberg told ISMG.

With its focus on autonomous AI-driven defense, Artemis is positioning itself to address the evolving challenges of cybersecurity in an environment where attacks are increasingly adaptive and rapid.
