Vijay Balakrishnan has been appointed as the new Chief Digital and Information Officer at Godrej & Boyce. Having previously served as Chief Data Officer at United Phosphorus, Michelin, and GE Transportation, Balakrishnan brings extensive expertise to his new role. He intends to spearhead digital transformation and foster innovation at Godrej & Boyce by prioritizing customer needs in shaping the technology roadmap. His approach involves cultivating a deep understanding of the business landscape and collaborating closely with stakeholders to identify technological opportunities that add value.
Balakrishnan stressed the importance of inclusivity in ensuring alignment among business stakeholders regarding the value of digital initiatives. He also emphasized the significance of adopting a scientific approach to evaluate the return on investment (ROI) for all technology investments, thus fostering a culture of innovation.
Furthermore, Balakrishnan outlined specific areas where he envisions significant digital advancements, including product transformation, optimization of business functions such as commercial operations, sales, procurement, finance, audit, digital manufacturing, and industry 4.0 integration. Additionally, he plans to focus on strategy, roadmap, and implementation of salesforce.com, enhancing cyber security measures, migrating to cloud infrastructure, leveraging data analytics, and enhancing digital experiences through technologies like augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
