Mumbai, Maharashtra, JioBlackRock Mutual Fund has appointed Rajiv Chhabria as Chief Business Officer, strengthening its leadership team as the asset manager expands its presence in India. Chhabria confirmed the appointment through a professional announcement, while JioBlackRock welcomed him to its asset-management business.

Chhabria brings nearly 22 years of experience across asset management, distribution, institutional business and strategic partnerships. In his new position, he will contribute to JioBlackRock’s business-growth agenda and work across sales, marketing and active products. His experience in managing relationships with banks, wealth-management companies, national distributors and institutional partners will support the firm’s efforts to broaden its reach among Indian investors.

Before joining JioBlackRock Mutual Fund, Chhabria spent 15 years at Sundaram Asset Management Company, most recently serving as Deputy Chief Business Officer. During his tenure, he held several senior positions covering strategic alliances, institutional business, distribution, products and retail sales.

His roles at Sundaram included National Head – Strategic Alliances and Institutional Business, National Head – Distribution and Business Alliances, Senior Assistant Vice President – Distribution and Retail Sales, and Assistant Vice President – Distribution and Products. These assignments gave him extensive exposure to the development of distribution networks and partnerships across banks, wealth firms, national distributors and institutional channels.

Earlier, Chhabria worked in channel sales covering independent financial advisers and national distribution at Daiwa Asset Management India. He began his career in the mutual-fund industry at Principal Mutual Fund, where he worked in business analytics and technology. The position provided him with early experience in business intelligence, data analysis and technology-enabled operational processes.

Announcing the move, Chhabria said he looked forward to working with the JioBlackRock team to help unlock new opportunities and create long-term value for its partners and investors. He holds an MBA from the S. P. Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai.
