Qualtrics has appointed Mike Potter as Chief Technology Officer (CTO), tasking him with leading platform architecture and engineering as the company expands its artificial intelligence capabilities across experience management. The company announced the appointment on October 5, 2026.
In his new role, Potter will focus on strengthening the core infrastructure of Qualtrics’ Experience Management (XM) Data & AI platform, improving engineering speed and maintaining system reliability as the company scales its technology capabilities.
Qualtrics is working to expand its XM Data & AI platform to help organisations use experience data more effectively. Under Potter’s leadership, the company aims to develop an AI-native infrastructure capable of processing, analysing and acting on experience data at enterprise scale.
Potter brings more than 25 years of technical leadership experience across Cognos, IBM, Qlik and Petal. His background includes leading technology organisations, scaling engineering operations and overseeing platform transformation.
Before joining Qualtrics, Potter led Product, Engineering, IT, Data and Security at Petal, where he was responsible for technology functions supporting healthcare solutions. Prior to Petal, he spent a decade at Qlik, helping scale its engineering organisation through periods of rapid growth and platform transformation.
His career across enterprise technology companies has involved building and managing large-scale platforms, strengthening technical infrastructure and supporting the development of products for business customers.
Commenting on his appointment, Potter said his experience building platforms at scale and his focus on collaboration and customer needs influenced his decision to join Qualtrics. He highlighted the opportunity to help shape the company’s XM Data & AI platform and build the infrastructure needed to deliver on its capabilities.
Potter also pointed to the technical challenge of evolving a platform traditionally associated with surveys and feedback into AI-native infrastructure that can process, reason over and act on experience data at enterprise scale. He described the work as both a systems-engineering and an AI challenge.
The appointment comes as Qualtrics advances its use of artificial intelligence in experience management. The company’s platform is designed to help organisations understand experiences and use the resulting insights to make decisions across customer, employee and other business interactions.
As Qualtrics scales its XM Data & AI platform, infrastructure, engineering efficiency and reliability will be important to supporting growing workloads and delivering consistent performance for enterprise customers.
Potter’s experience across enterprise software, data, engineering and healthcare technology is expected to support the company’s efforts to develop its platform and expand its AI capabilities. His appointment places platform architecture and engineering at the centre of Qualtrics’ next phase of technology development.
