Kolkata, Desun Hospitals has strengthened its technology leadership with the appointment of Syed Kadam Murshed as Chief Information Officer, or CIO. Murshed confirmed the development through a LinkedIn post on Thursday.
“I am delighted to share that I have joined Desun Hospitals as Chief Information Officer (CIO),” Murshed said.
In his new role, Murshed will focus on aligning Desun Hospitals’ technology strategy with its clinical, operational and business priorities. His responsibilities are expected to include strengthening technology governance, modernising enterprise architecture, improving cybersecurity resilience and building digital systems that support the hospital’s long-term growth.
Murshed said his priorities would include creating a secure and future-ready technology ecosystem while using artificial intelligence, data-driven decision-making, healthcare interoperability and patient-focused digital platforms to improve care delivery and operational efficiency.
He brings extensive experience across healthcare technology, information security, IT infrastructure and enterprise transformation. Before joining Desun Hospitals, Murshed served as Head of Information Technology Operations and Chief Information Security Officer at Metropolis Healthcare. He was appointed to the position in June 2024 to oversee the diagnostics company’s IT operations and cybersecurity initiatives.
His earlier professional experience includes technology and information-security roles associated with organisations such as Lupin, Tata Consultancy Services and Wipro. He has worked on areas including cybersecurity strategy, technology-risk management, regulatory compliance, infrastructure operations and the protection of sensitive healthcare information.
The appointment comes as hospitals increasingly invest in integrated clinical systems, secure digital infrastructure, automation and data platforms. Murshed’s combined healthcare IT and cybersecurity experience is likely to support Desun Hospitals as it expands the use of technology across clinical care and administrative operations.
Desun Hospital operates as a multispeciality and superspeciality healthcare provider in Kolkata. The hospital says it combines advanced medical technology with affordable and patient-focused care. Its Kolkata facility received Joint Commission International accreditation in October 2025, recognising its clinical-quality and patient-safety processes.
