Social media platform X began showing signs of recovery late Saturday evening after a widespread outage disrupted access for thousands of users across the United States, according to data from outage-tracking website Downdetector.com.
At the height of the disruption, more than 10,000 users had reported issues accessing the platform. By 7:42 p.m. ET, that number had declined significantly to around 1,041, suggesting a partial restoration of services.
Downdetector tracks outages through user-submitted reports and aggregated data from multiple sources, meaning the actual number of affected users may differ from its estimates.
The cause of the outage has not yet been officially disclosed by the company.
This incident adds to a growing list of technical disruptions faced by the platform since Elon Musk acquired it and rebranded Twitter as X. The billionaire entrepreneur has recently stated he plans to resume working “24/7” across his companies. In May, it was reported that Musk spent nearly $300 million in support of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s reelection campaign and other Republican causes.
