Chennai, India— Cybersecurity veteran Sunil Varkey has been appointed as Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Hexaware Technologies, marking his latest senior leadership role in a career spanning more than three decades in global information security.
In his new role at Hexaware Technologies, Chennai, India (hybrid model), Sunil Varkey will be responsible for strengthening enterprise cybersecurity governance, risk management frameworks, and overall security strategy across the organization. His appointment was announced in June 2026.
Sunil Varkey brings over 30 years of experience in cybersecurity leadership across banking, telecom, IT services, and manufacturing sectors, with professional exposure in India, the Middle East, and the United States. His expertise spans cybersecurity governance, risk and compliance (GRC), security architecture, incident response, DevSecOps, cloud security, privacy management, and business continuity planning.
Prior to joining Hexaware Technologies, he worked as Cyber Security Consultant and Advisor at TAHAKOM in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (June 2023 – March 2025), where he collaborated with the CISO to enhance cybersecurity resilience and security posture.
Between April 2021 and November 2022, he served as VP and Chief Technology Officer for EMEA & APJ at Forescout Technologies Inc. in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, focusing on IT/OT security strategy, product positioning, and enterprise cybersecurity advisory across global markets.
Earlier, at HSBC in Hyderabad (March 2020 – January 2021), he held the position of Managing Director and Global Head of Cyber Security Assessments and Testing, leading a 300-member team responsible for penetration testing, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and third-party security risk assessments.
From December 2018 to February 2020, he was CTO and Security Strategist for Middle East, Africa, and Eastern Europe at Symantec, where he developed cybersecurity strategies for enterprise, financial, government, and industrial sectors.
His previous leadership roles also include Global CISO at Wipro, CISO at Idea Cellular, VP of Security Engineering at Barclays, and senior global security positions at GE Capital/Genpact and other multinational organizations.
