Microsoft Launches Its Largest Data Centre Hub in India, Expands AI and Cloud Footprint

Microsoft has inaugurated its largest data centre hub in India with the launch of its new cloud region in Hyderabad, marking a significant milestone in the company’s strategy to strengthen its AI and cloud infrastructure in one of its fastest-growing markets.

The Hyderabad facility becomes Microsoft’s fourth cloud region in India, joining its existing regions in Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai. Designed to support the growing demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence services, the new hub is expected to provide enterprises with enhanced scalability, lower latency, and improved access to AI-powered capabilities.

The expansion comes as organizations across industries accelerate the adoption of AI-driven technologies, increasing the need for secure and high-performance cloud infrastructure. By expanding its regional presence, Microsoft aims to help businesses modernize operations, build AI-enabled applications, and meet evolving data residency and compliance requirements.

According to the company, the Hyderabad cloud region is part of Microsoft’s broader investment strategy in India, where it has committed approximately $20.5 billion to expand its operations and strengthen digital infrastructure. The move reinforces Microsoft’s position as one of the country’s leading cloud service providers while supporting India’s emergence as a global hub for AI innovation and enterprise technology.

Several major enterprises, including Adani Group and HDFC Bank, are among the early adopters of the new cloud region, highlighting the increasing enterprise demand for AI-ready cloud platforms capable of supporting large-scale digital transformation initiatives.

The launch also reflects the intensifying competition among global technology companies to expand data centre capacity in India, where rising AI adoption, a large digital economy, and a skilled technology workforce continue to drive investments in next-generation cloud infrastructure.
