Adobe has unveiled its new Firefly AI Assistant, an agentic AI tool designed to execute complex creative tasks across its entire Adobe Creative Cloud ecosystem using simple text prompts. The assistant, which evolved from Adobe’s earlier “Project Moonlight,” is set to enter public beta in the coming weeks.
The Firefly AI Assistant can seamlessly work across multiple Adobe applications—including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Illustrator, Lightroom, and Express—allowing users to complete multi-step workflows without manually switching between tools. Users can simply describe what they want, and the assistant orchestrates the required actions across apps to deliver the result.
Unlike traditional editing tools, the assistant functions as an intelligent workflow orchestrator. It can suggest actions, automate repetitive tasks, and execute entire creative processes whilestill allowing users to intervene and fine-tune outputs through prompts, sliders, or manual controls.
A key feature of the assistant is its ability to learn user preferences over time, enabling it to provide more personalized suggestions and streamline workflows further. It also introduces “Skills”—predefined multi-step actions such as creating social media assets, where the assistant can automatically resize, optimize, and export content for different platforms.
The system dynamically adapts to the context of a project. For example, while editing an image, it may offer intuitive controls like adjusting background elements or enhancing specific visual components, making advanced editing more accessible even for non-experts.
