Bhavna Kumar has joined BNP Paribas India as Managing Director – Human Resources, marking a new chapter in her career after nearly 11 years with Deutsche Bank. Kumar announced the move through a LinkedIn post, where she shared that she was starting her new position as Managing Director at BNP Paribas.
In her new role, Kumar will contribute to BNP Paribas India’s people agenda, with a focus on supporting business growth, strengthening leadership, building an inclusive and high-performing culture, and preparing the organisation for future opportunities.
Kumar brings extensive experience across human resources, business transformation, talent management, recruitment, organisational change and design, mergers and acquisitions, and project management.
Before joining BNP Paribas, Kumar spent nearly 11 years at Deutsche Bank. During her tenure, she held several HR leadership positions, including Global HR Lead for Investment Banking, Sustainability, Risk, Finance and Treasury Technology. She joined Deutsche Bank in November 2015 and worked across multiple areas during her time with the organisation.
Prior to Deutsche Bank, Kumar spent more than eight years with Standard Chartered Bank. Her experience there covered business transformation, recruitment, mergers and acquisitions and talent management. Her assignments included work across India, Singapore, Thailand and London, spanning both Consumer and Wholesale Banking.
Kumar began her professional career with Johnson & Johnson Medical India. Her career has since covered several areas of human resources and business leadership, including talent management, organisational change, transformation and HR support for business functions.
Kumar is an alumna of XLRI Jamshedpur, where she completed her postgraduate qualification in Human Resources and Personnel Management. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics. Her LinkedIn profile lists XLRI Jamshedpur as part of her academic background.
At BNP Paribas India, Kumar’s mandate will include strengthening the organisation’s people and leadership agenda while aligning HR priorities with broader business requirements. Her experience across financial services organisations and multiple HR functions will form part of her new leadership role.
Sharing the announcement, Kumar said she was happy to start her new position as Managing Director at BNP Paribas. In a separate statement reported after her appointment, she described the move as a new chapter focused on people and purpose.
With her appointment as Managing Director – Human Resources, Kumar joins BNP Paribas India after a long career in HR leadership across the banking and healthcare sectors. Her new role will focus on people strategy, leadership, organisational culture and supporting the bank’s broader business agenda.
