Pune: Definedge Securities Broking Private Limited (Definedge), Pune-based fintech and brokerage firm known for its integrated suite of trading analytics, algorithmic and wealth-creation platforms. The firm has raised ₹22 crore in a Pre-Series A round, taking its total funding raised to date to ₹30 crore.
The round saw continued participation from existing backers Nitin Agarwal and D. Prasad, alongside new investors Anant Jain and Sachin Kasera. The investment is entirely equity and follows Definedge’s first institutional/angel round, which closed in November 2025.
Definedge is targeting ₹5,000 crore in AUM through Momentify over the next 24 months, up from the ₹1,000 crore already crossed. Additionally they will focus on scaling its Gurukul learning ecosystem for retail participants.
Capital deployment centres on four growth engines:
- Infrastructure and low-latency execution,
- Scaling Zone and Opstra their flagship trading products to support next-generation algorithmic automation.
- This includes expanding Algostra into India’s leading no-code retail algo-trading platform and
- Advancing Momentify from a systematic investing tool into a broader wealth-creation platform.
Speaking on the raise, Prashant Shah, Co-founder & CEO, said, “Unlike most startups, we didn’t begin with a brokerage license; we began by building trust, knowledge and community. Our mission is to democratize access to professional-grade trading tools and education for Indian traders and investors. Over the next two to three years, our vision is to bring research, analysis, investing, trading, education, and automation into a more connected and intuitive experience. AI and automation will play an important role in helping users research ideas, test strategies, and follow their rules with greater consistency.”
Anant Jain says, “Definedge’s product-first approach stood out to us, especially impressive to me was developing my own momentum strategies, back testing them and deploying them. What would otherwise take months or even years has been made accessible through technology. This democratises investing by enabling informed users to become their own money managers. We’re excited to back a team building scalable, technology-led infrastructure for India’s traders and investors.”
Additionally, D Prasad mentioned, “Markets don’t always cooperate, and the last couple of years are a good example of that. As an investor, what matters to me is a company that performs throughout changing conditions, and Definedge did exactly that: AUM kept climbing, the user base kept growing, and none of it depended on a friendly macro backdrop.”
While Sachin Kasera also said, “Definedge has built genuine credibility with its Trading & Investing community over the years, and we’re glad to be part of its next phase of growth.”
While the new investors sound excited about the journey, the existing investors talk about continued conviction.
Nitin Agarwal says, “Having backed more than 125 startups, I continue to see strong conviction in Definedge’s ability to bring institutional-quality tools to India’s growing base of retail traders and investors. This round reflects our continued confidence in Prashant and Rajesh’s execution.”
Definedge will deploy the capital across its priority areas: expanding its margin funding capacity for traders, strengthening marketing and distribution, accelerating product development in AI and automation. Alongside this they aim to scale their technology, service and operational infrastructure to support a larger customer base. They would also focus on the broader adoption of AI platforms such as Momentify and Algostra which helps users put a systematic approach to trading & investing into practise.
Definedge, founded by Prashant Shah, Co-founder & CEO, and Rajesh Badiye, Co-founder & CIO, began as a product-led investor education platform before expanding into full-service broking. Since its last funding round, the company has crossed ₹1,000 crore in assets under management (AUM) through Momentify, its rule-based wealth-creation platform, in roughly 15 months.
Definedge’s overall user base has grown 125% in the last 14 months and 10x over the last 36 months, entirely through word of mouth.
