EY and Microsoft Launch Free AI Skills Passport to Empower Students and Early-Career Professionals

EY and Microsoft have unveiled the AI Skills Passport, a free online program designed to equip students and early-career professionals with essential artificial intelligence capabilities. Targeting individuals aged 16 and above, the initiative aims to make high-quality AI education accessible to all. With more than 40,000 participants globally, the program is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing India’s AI skills gap through practical, self-paced learning modules available in both English and Hindi.

Monesh Dange, Partner and Leader, Alliances and Ecosystems, EY India, said, “In an era where AI is revolutionising work and redefining career paths, the launch of the AI Skills Passport is a panacea for India’s growing demand for skilled AI talent. Together with Microsoft, we’re committed to ensuring this program is not only free but also impactful at scale.” The program offers around 10 hours of modular content covering AI fundamentals, responsible AI practices, and real-world applications across sectors such as healthcare, finance, and technology. In addition, it provides support for resume building and interview preparation, helping learners translate skills into career opportunities.

Bhaskar Basu, Enterprise Partnerships Leader, Microsoft India & South Asia, added, “AI is transforming India’s digital economy, with youth at its core. The AI Skills Passport reflects our vision of ‘AI for all’ and our commitment to fostering future-ready talent.” As part of EY Ripples, EY plans to collaborate with not-for-profit organisations to extend the program to students from economically weaker backgrounds. The initiative will also provide mentorship and career guidance, enabling participants to build sustainable, future-ready careers.

The AI Skills Passport represents a significant step in bridging the gap between education and industry requirements in India’s rapidly evolving AI landscape. By combining accessible content, mentorship, and practical learning, the program empowers young learners to acquire competencies that are increasingly critical in the digital economy.

With this initiative, EY and Microsoft are not only addressing immediate skills shortages but also investing in the long-term development of India’s talent pool, ensuring that the next generation of professionals is equipped to thrive in an AI-driven world.
