India Faces Telecom Talent Crisis with Only 40% of Tech Graduates Job-Ready; TSSC Joins Forces with Didac Skills 2025 to Bridge the Gap

  • With just 40% of computer science, IT, and math graduates ready for industry roles, the Telecom Sector Skill Council through its presence at DIDAC Skills 2025 will boost the telecom workforce readiness across India.

New Delhi:  Industry estimates suggest India’s sector is witnessing a significant skill gap, especially in areas like 5G, cloud computing, IoT, and AI, and the scenario is projected to worsen in the coming years if not addressed carefully. A major reason for the skills gap is the mismatch between what students learn and what the industry actually needs. According to a report by the Telecom Sector Skill Council, only about 40% of Indian computer science, IT, and math graduates are ready for tech jobs. This highlights the pressing need for focused reskilling, upskilling, and stronger ties between academia and industry to develop job-ready talent. To strengthen India’s skilling ecosystem and empower the next-generation telecom workforce, the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) — the apex body for skill development in the telecom sector — has joined hands with the India Didactics Association (IDA).This partnership aims to drive impactful workforce development, promote future-ready skills among India’s youth, and bridge the demand-supply gap in the rapidly evolving telecom industry through various initiatives.

As a step towards this collaboration, TSSC marks its participation and presence at DIDAC Skills 2025, Asia’s first exhibition and conference dedicated to skilling, organized by Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG and IDA.

DIDAC Skills 2025, Asia’s only exhibition and conference on skill development, organized by Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG and India Didactics Association (IDA).

This participation is a significant step towards realizing its vision for a skilled and future-ready telecom workforce. DIDAC Skills 2025, co-located with Asia’s largest and India’s only exhibition and conference for the education sector Didac India 2025 will serve as a unified platform where industry leaders, policymakers, educators, and employers come together to address critical workforce challenges and opportunities. The event will feature engaging conferences, hands-on skill workshops, live demonstrations, industry-led challenges, and unique Skill Challenges and Demonstrations to immerse participants in real-world learning experiences.

Gaurav Sood, CEO & Managing Director, Messe Stuttgart India (subsidiary of Landesmesse Stuttgart GmbH & Co. KG), said, “DIDAC Skills 2025 is designed to be a transformative catalyst for India’s skilling landscape. By partnering with TSSC, we are strengthening our commitment to fostering industry-ready talent and creating new avenues for collaboration between key stakeholders in the telecom sector. This partnership exemplifies our vision to bridge skill gaps and empower India’s workforce for the future.”

TSSC, an industry-led apex body established by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Indian Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA), and the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), has emerged as the vital bridge connecting ministries, skilling bodies, technical institutes, and the Indian telecom industry with the nation’s youth. Its mission is to ensure the adequate availability of skilled manpower, supporting sector-wide growth, productivity, and innovation. The council’s core membership reflects the strength of the industry, including ICEA and major private telecom service providers such as Bharti Airtel Limited and Vodafone Idea Limited.

Aditya Gupta, CEO, India Didactics Association, said, “Our collaboration with the Telecom Sector Skill Council marks a crucial step toward bridging India’s telecom skill gap with real-world, industry-driven learning. At IDA and Didac Skills 2025, we believe that skilling must move beyond classrooms to create meaningful career pathways and future-ready talent. Together with TSSC, we are aligning education, technology, and opportunity, empowering India’s youth to lead the next wave of innovation in a digitally connected world.”

Through this participation, TSSC aims to showcase the latest skilling resources and solutions, highlight innovative training models, and facilitate dialogue between telecom employers, training providers, and aspiring talent. The collaboration underscores a shared commitment to empowering young Indians with industry-relevant skills and building a robust pipeline of talent for the telecom ecosystem.

DIDAC Skills 2025 will take place from 18–20 November 2025 at Yashobhoomi (India International Convention & Expo Centre), Delhi, creating new opportunities for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaborative action across the skilling and telecom landscape.
