New Delhi, Singapore-based venture capital firm Jungle Ventures plans to deploy between $200 million and $300 million in India every two years, as it increases its focus on artificial intelligence and advanced manufacturing startups. India has emerged as the firm’s largest investment market, ahead of Singapore and Vietnam.
The investment firm has increased India’s share of its overall capital deployment to nearly 70%, compared with around 35% from its third fund. The shift reflects Jungle Ventures’ growing focus on the Indian startup ecosystem as it looks to back technology companies developing products and capabilities in AI and advanced manufacturing.
Jungle Ventures founding partner Amit Anand said the firm is increasingly directing new investments towards these emerging technology segments. The strategy comes amid growing investor interest in Indian companies working across artificial intelligence, deep technology, electronics and technology-enabled manufacturing.
The firm typically operates main funds of around $400 million, deploying capital across approximately 20 companies over a period of two to two-and-a-half years. Its 2022 investment vehicle included a $450 million main fund along with $150 million in separately managed commitments.
Jungle Ventures invests across multiple stages, from seed to growth, with typical cheque sizes ranging from $500,000 to $20 million. Its portfolio spans India and Southeast Asia, with investments across technology, consumer businesses and other emerging sectors.
The increased India allocation comes as venture investors sharpen their focus on AI-led businesses and technology-driven manufacturing opportunities. Jungle Ventures’ strategy indicates a shift towards companies building technology-intensive products and infrastructure rather than limiting investments to traditional software and consumer internet models.
India’s growing share of the firm’s capital deployment also represents a significant expansion from Jungle Ventures’ earlier investment strategy and positions the country as a central market for its upcoming investment cycles.
Founded in 2012 by Amit Anand and Anurag Srivastava, Jungle Ventures is a Singapore-based venture capital firm investing in early-to-growth-stage companies across India and Southeast Asia. The firm currently manages approximately $1.5 billion in assets and follows a concentrated investment strategy aimed at supporting companies across multiple stages of their growth journey.
