LG-Backed Robotics Startup RLWRLD Launches AI Model for Advanced Industrial Automation

South Korean robotics startup RLWRLD has unveiled its latest artificial intelligence model, marking a major step forward in the rapidly growing field of physical AI and industrial robotics. Backed by major companies including LG Electronics, the startup introduced “RLDX-1,” a foundation model designed specifically for five-finger robotic hands capable of handling complex industrial tasks with greater precision and adaptability.

The newly launched model focuses on improving robotic dexterity and enabling machines to interact with real-world environments more naturally. Unlike traditional industrial robots that are often limited to repetitive movements, RLWRLD’s AI system is designed to help robots understand physical surroundings, respond to natural language instructions, and execute delicate tasks that previously required human involvement. The company believes the technology could significantly improve automation across factories, logistics operations, and manufacturing facilities.

RLWRLD has emerged as one of Asia’s rising players in the robotics AI sector, supported by strategic investors such as LG Electronics, SK Telecom, KDDI, ANA Holdings, and Mitsui Chemicals. The startup raised approximately US$15 million in seed funding to strengthen its robotics foundation models, expand industrial data pipelines, and accelerate research into advanced robotic manipulation systems.

The company’s broader vision is centered around what industry experts call “Physical AI,” where artificial intelligence is embedded into machines capable of interacting with the physical world. RLWRLD combines large language model capabilities with robotics software to create systems that can learn from human demonstrations and adapt to changing environments. The startup is also developing separate “specialist” and “generalist” visual language action (VLA) models aimed at improving robotic decision-making and long-term planning.

Industry analysts believe the launch highlights Asia’s growing influence in next-generation robotics and industrial AI. With access to large-scale manufacturing ecosystems and industrial data from strategic partners, RLWRLD is positioning itself as a competitor to global robotics AI firms such as Figure AI and Skild AI. Experts say the race to build advanced robotics foundation models could become one of the most significant technological battles of the decade as companies worldwide push to automate increasingly complex physical tasks.
