PhonePe has elevated Mrigakshi Kaul to the position of Head – Privacy Compliance, according to a leadership update published by CXO Xperts. In her expanded role, Kaul will strengthen the company’s privacy-compliance framework and support its approach to data protection, governance, regulatory readiness and responsible management of personal information across its growing portfolio of digital businesses.
Kaul brings approximately 15 years of professional experience spanning privacy compliance, information security, technology risk and governance. She has been associated with PhonePe’s Compliance team as Associate Director – Privacy Compliance, contributing to the development and operation of the company’s privacy programme. Her experience includes implementing organisational safeguards, assessing privacy-related risks, supporting regulatory compliance and strengthening internal processes designed to protect customer and business data.
Her professional credentials demonstrate expertise across privacy management and information security. Kaul is recognised as a Fellow of Information Privacy by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. She also holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional–United States, Certified Information Privacy Manager and Certified Information Privacy Technologist credentials. In addition, she is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and an ISO 27001 Lead Implementer. These qualifications cover privacy laws, programme governance, privacy-enhancing technologies, cybersecurity controls and information-security management systems.
The elevation comes as privacy compliance assumes greater strategic importance for India’s digital platforms. Companies operating across payments and financial services manage substantial volumes of personal, transactional and behavioural data, making effective governance, security safeguards and regulatory accountability essential to maintaining consumer confidence. India’s evolving data-protection framework has also increased the need for organisations to establish structured privacy programmes integrating legal, compliance, security, technology and business functions.

Its privacy programme has received recognition from the Data Security Council of India for organisational privacy practices.
