SAP Invests in Automation Startup n8n at $5.2 Billion Valuation Amid Enterprise AI Boom

German software giant SAP has made a strategic investment in automation startup n8n, pushing the company’s valuation to approximately $5.2 billion as competition intensifies in the enterprise artificial intelligence market. The investment reflects SAP’s growing focus on AI-powered workflow automation and enterprise productivity solutions as businesses worldwide accelerate digital transformation efforts.

As part of the partnership, SAP and n8n have also signed a multi-year commercial agreement that will integrate n8n’s workflow automation tools into SAP’s AI agent development platform, Joule Studio. The collaboration is expected to provide enterprises with enhanced automation capabilities through no-code, low-code, and pro-code workflow systems that can connect multiple business applications and AI agents within a unified ecosystem.

Founded in Berlin, n8n has rapidly emerged as one of Europe’s fastest-growing AI automation startups. The company specializes in workflow orchestration technology that allows businesses to automate repetitive tasks and integrate data across various enterprise systems. Its platform currently supports hundreds of integrations and has gained significant traction among developers and enterprise clients seeking flexible automation infrastructure for AI-powered operations.

Industry analysts believe the investment highlights a major shift in enterprise AI strategy, where companies are increasingly focusing not only on AI models but also on the workflow infrastructure that connects AI systems with real-world business operations. Automation platforms like n8n are becoming increasingly valuable because they help enterprises integrate artificial intelligence into finance, supply chain, human resources, customer support, and operational workflows at scale.

The latest investment also reinforces SAP’s broader ambitions in enterprise AI and business automation. The company has been aggressively expanding its AI portfolio through new product launches, partnerships, and platform integrations centered around SAP Business AI and Joule Agents. SAP executives have emphasized that embedded AI and autonomous enterprise workflows will play a major role in shaping the future of enterprise software and cloud operations.

The funding deal reportedly more than doubles n8n’s valuation from its previous funding round in late 2025, underlining strong investor enthusiasm around AI infrastructure and automation startups. Market experts note that enterprises are increasingly investing in workflow orchestration systems capable of connecting AI models, business data, and operational processes efficiently. As the global AI race continues to accelerate, partnerships like SAP and n8n are expected to play a critical role in defining the next generation of enterprise technology ecosystems.
