STEAG Energy Services (India) Pvt. Ltd. has appointed Kota BhanuPrakash as its Chief Executive Officer while he continues to serve as a member of the company’s board. The leadership transition comes as STEAG India expands its operations and maintenance portfolio and strengthens its engineering, digital and advisory capabilities across conventional and renewable energy assets.
In his new role, BhanuPrakash will oversee STEAG India’s business strategy, operations, customer relationships and long-term growth initiatives. His responsibilities will include strengthening project execution, expanding the company’s operations and maintenance business, improving asset performance and advancing solutions for efficiency, digital transformation and the energy transition. He will also guide the company’s engagement with utilities, industrial customers and power producers in India and international markets.
BhanuPrakash brings more than 32 years of experience in the power and energy sector, covering project management, engineering, commissioning, performance testing, operations and maintenance, and efficiency improvement. He has worked on subcritical and supercritical coal-fired power plants and has experience in the flexible operation of thermal generating assets—an increasingly important capability as electricity systems integrate larger volumes of renewable power.
Before assuming the CEO position, BhanuPrakash served as Head of Marketing at STEAG Energy Services India and was associated with the company’s board and management structure. In that capacity, he contributed to business development, client engagement and the expansion of STEAG India’s service portfolio. He has also delivered technical programmes focused on power-plant equipment optimisation and operational performance.
Earlier, BhanuPrakash served as Deputy General Manager – Operations at NTPC Limited. His work at the state-owned power producer covered the development and implementation of technologies, commissioning and operation of coal-based power plants. He is a mechanical engineer and holds a master’s degree in power generation from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
The appointment follows a significant ownership transition at STEAG India. Bluspring Enterprises completed the acquisition of the company from Germany-based STEAG Power in May 2026, making it a wholly owned step-down subsidiary. Since then, STEAG India has secured major long-term operations and maintenance mandates across large thermal and captive power facilities.
Established in 2001, STEAG Energy Services India provides operations and maintenance, engineering, digital solutions, diagnostics, performance optimisation, management advisory and technical training services. The company manages nearly 6 GW of power-generation assets and more than 2,200 tonnes per hour of process-steam capacity across India and international markets.
