
Sumit Narang has joined Thai Union Group PCL as Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, taking on a global leadership role focused on strategy, growth and transformation. He brings more than 20 years of experience across corporate strategy, transformation, mergers and acquisitions, management consulting and commercial leadership.
Narang joins Thai Union from Walmart, where he spent approximately five years and served as Director, Strategy in Hong Kong. During his tenure, he led global sourcing strategy across more than 70 countries, adding international strategy and business experience to his career.
Before Walmart, Narang spent more than seven years with the CK Birla Group. His roles included Vice President & Global Head of Strategy and M&A at Birlasoft, where he led the CEO Office, Strategy and M&A agenda. Earlier, he worked in Corporate Strategy within the CK Birla Group Chairman’s Office, contributing to the group’s Office of Growth & Strategy.
His earlier career also includes around five years at McKinsey & Company, where he worked as a Specialist, and experience in private equity with Ambit Pragma Advisors, a fund focused on buyouts. These roles added experience in strategy, operations, due diligence, investment evaluation and corporate development.
Narang began his professional career with Bajaj Auto as Area Manager – Sales, where he led showroom sales across the Karnataka and Goa region. His career has since progressed across commercial leadership, consulting, private equity, corporate strategy, M&A and enterprise-level transformation.
At Thai Union, Narang will work closely with the CEO and business leaders to translate the company’s Strategy 2030 into execution across its business units, identify growth opportunities and drive transformation across the group. Thai Union said his appointment is part of efforts to strengthen the leadership capabilities required to advance its Strategy 2030 priorities.
