India-based AI startup Emergent has entered the fast-growing AI agent market with the launch of “Wingman,” a messaging-first autonomous assistant designed to perform tasks across apps and workflows. The move marks the company’s expansion beyond its core “vibe-coding” platform into execution-focused AI systems.
Wingman is built to operate as a background AI agent that can handle multi-step tasks through conversational interfaces, integrating with tools such as messaging apps, email, and productivity platforms. Unlike traditional assistants, it is designed to act more autonomously—executing actions rather than just responding to queries—placing it in direct competition with emerging tools like OpenClaw and other agent-based systems.
Emergent initially gained traction with its vibe-coding platform, which allows users—especially non-technical ones—to build full-stack applications using natural language prompts. The platform has seen rapid adoption, with over 8 million users and more than 1.5 million monthly active users creating and deploying software through AI-driven workflows.
Founded in 2025, the startup has quickly scaled, raising $70 million earlier this year at a valuation of around $300 million, backed by investors including SoftBank, Khosla Ventures, and Lightspeed. Its rapid growth reflects rising global interest in AI tools that simplify software development and automate complex tasks.
