Abhijit Dey has joined PwC as Senior Director – Financial Services Advisory, marking a move from banking and financial-services product leadership into management consulting. Dey announced the new role on LinkedIn, saying he is looking forward to helping financial services clients take AI, Agentic AI and GenAI ideas into production and drive transformation across banking and the broader financial-services ecosystem.
Dey brings more than 18 years of experience across fintech, digital banking, artificial intelligence, generative AI, APIs and embedded finance. His professional background includes leadership roles focused on financial-product development, API banking and digital transformation.
Before joining PwC, Dey held several leadership positions at Axis Bank. His roles included Senior Vice President – Product Lead, AI & API Banking; Vice President – Product Head, API Banking, WhatsApp & Chatbot; and Deputy Vice President – Product Head, API Banking. Earlier in his career, he worked with HDFC Bank as Assistant Vice President – API Banking Product Development and Senior Manager – Product, API Banking. He also worked as a Product Manager at Maraekat Infotech Ltd.
Dey’s experience spans the development and scaling of digital financial products, API-led banking and the application of emerging technologies in financial services. His professional focus has increasingly included generative AI and AI agents, particularly their use in financial products and banking transformation.
His move to PwC also follows a period of work and thought leadership around AI-powered financial products. In June 2026, Dey co-authored Building AI-Powered Financial Products: Use Responsible AI to Launch ROI-Driven FinTech Products at Scale, published by Packt. The 500-page book covers areas including generative AI, AI agents, LLMs, digital banking, payments, lending, insurance, wealth management, AI governance and responsible AI.
Dey has also been associated with work around AI-first fintech product development. His published profile describes experience across AI, GenAI, APIs and embedded finance, along with leadership in initiatives including UPI, Credit on UPI and Banking-as-a-Service in India.
In his announcement, Dey said the transition from banking to management consulting would allow him to work with financial-services clients on moving AI, Agentic AI and GenAI concepts into production. His stated focus is on helping clients translate these technologies into practical applications and supporting transformation across the banking ecosystem.
The appointment comes as financial institutions increasingly explore generative AI, AI agents and API-led platforms for financial products and customer experiences. Dey’s background in banking product leadership and emerging financial technologies will form part of his work in PwC’s Financial Services Advisory practice.
With his new position, Dey will bring his experience in banking, financial-product development, AI and API-led transformation into an advisory role at PwC, where his focus will include supporting financial-services clients in their technology and business transformation initiatives.
