Airtel and Google Cloud Enter into a Long-Term Strategic Collaboration to Accelerate Cloud Adoption and Deploy Generative AI Solutions

Bharti Airtel (“Airtel”) and Google Cloud have announced a long-term collaboration aimed at delivering cloud solutions to Indian businesses. This strategic partnership will provide a range of advanced cloud solutions from Google Cloud to accelerate cloud adoption and modernization for Airtel’s extensive customer base. Additionally, Airtel will offer a suite of cloud managed services to its customers, including over 2,000 large enterprises and one million emerging businesses.

The collaboration between Airtel and Google Cloud targets the rapidly expanding Indian public cloud services market, projected to reach $17.8 billion by 2027 according to IDC. Leveraging their respective strengths in connectivity and AI technology, the companies will develop industry-leading AI/ML solutions. Airtel will train these solutions on its extensive dataset to deliver enhanced value to its customers.

The unique solutions resulting from this collaboration will include geospatial analytics for trend-spotting, predictive capabilities, market assessment, site selection, risk management, and asset tracking. Additionally, voice analytics solutions will be developed for conversational applications across languages, and marketing technology solutions will enable consumer behavior forecasting, tailored audience segmentation, and precision contextual advertising at reduced costs.

Airtel has also introduced an end-to-end IoT solution tailored for the utility sector, combining connectivity, Google Cloud services, and application software into a single offering for seamless and faster deployment.

To support its cloud-based solutions business, Airtel has established a managed services center in Pune with over 300 experts trained extensively to promote Google Cloud services and develop world-class tech solutions.

Gopal Vittal, MD & CEO of Bharti Airtel, emphasized the importance of cloud and AI solutions in India’s digital transformation, stating that this collaboration with Google Cloud will deliver secure and scalable cloud solutions across government, enterprises, and emerging businesses. Together, they aim to accelerate the deployment of AI in India to solve complex problems.

Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, highlighted the partnership as a significant milestone in accelerating cloud and AI adoption in India. He expressed a commitment to exploring and building transformative solutions that enhance Airtel’s customer experiences.

Airtel will leverage Google Cloud’s gen AI capabilities to transform customer experiences across its mobile, broadband, and digital TV offerings, as well as streamline internal processes and operations. These capabilities will also be extended to Airtel’s B2B customers in India and globally.
