Visa has appointed Suresh Sethi as Group Country Manager for India and South Asia, effective April 27, 2026, marking a strategic leadership shift as the company accelerates its regional growth agenda.
Sethi succeeds Sandeep Ghosh, who has stepped down after more than four years to pursue opportunities outside the organization.
The appointment comes as Visa sharpens its focus on expanding digital payments adoption and strengthening its footprint across one of its fastest-growing markets.
A seasoned leader with nearly three decades of experience, Suresh Sethi brings deep expertise across corporate banking, retail financial services, mobile payments, and government technology initiatives. Prior to joining Visa, he served as Chief Executive Officer at Protean eGov Technologies, where he played a key role in driving large-scale digital transformation programs.
Earlier in his career, he spent over a decade at Citigroup, working across multiple geographies including India, Africa, South America, and the United States, primarily in transaction banking.
His cross-sector experience is expected to support Visa’s strategy as it navigates a rapidly evolving payments landscape shaped by fintech innovation, regulatory developments, and changing consumer behavior.
The leadership transition comes at a time when digital payments adoption in India and South Asia continues to accelerate, with increasing competition from fintech players and growing demand for seamless, scalable transaction ecosystems.
With India emerging as a critical growth market, Sethi’s mandate will focus on driving adoption, deepening ecosystem partnerships, and aligning regional priorities with Visa’s global strategy.
